Effects of Reminiscence on Distress Tolerance and Spiritual Health of Mothers with Premature Newborns Admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Shahid Beheshti Hospital in Isfahan, Iran

Background and Objective: Hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit is a psychological crisis for family. However, reminiscence has positive effects on improvement of mental health. In this regard, study aimed to investigate writing distress tolerance spiritual health mothers with hospitalized newborns. Materials Methods: This quasi-experimental was performed 40 newborns admitted Shahid Beheshti Hospital Isfahan, Iran from February 2021 August 2022. The research samples were divided into two experimental control groups. During hospitalization hospital, intervention group recorded their daily memories notebook half an hour every day 6 days. Data collection tools demographic questionnaires, Distress Tolerance Scale by Simmons Gaher, Spiritual Well-Being Questionnaire Polotzin Ellison which completed both At descriptive level, mean standard deviation values as well frequency distribution tables used. Moreover, at inferential Chi-square, Fisher's exact, independent t-test, Mann-Whitney tests employed. Results: scores before 45.03±5.57 39.63±18.16, respectively, increased 56.95±12.32 68.60±30.07 after intervention, respectively. After significantly higher than those control. Conclusion: Reminiscence can positively affect anxiety mothers.
